John Bergquist
Bass 1
John holds a BM in Choral Music Education and an MM in Choral Conducting from the University of Utah. Originally from Salt Lake City, he migrated to sunny California in 2020 amidst the chaos of the Covid-19 pandemic. A musician of split passions, he feels equally at home conducting choral and chamber ensembles as he does laying down basslines in vocal pop and jazz groups. John is a conductor, composer, baritone, pianist, sound engineer, and avid hobbyist.
Since moving, John has found a home base as a church musician at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Studio City where he serves as the director of Music and Technology. He is the Associate Artistic Director of the San Fernando Valley Master Chorale, and has sung with Tonality, Pacific Chorale, The Contemporary Choral Collective of Los Angeles, and is a new member on the rosters of The Camerata Singers of Long Beach and Terpsichor. He regularly accompanies choirs and plays principal keyboard for musicals at the Brentwood School for the Performing Arts, and is the new staff accompanist for the San Fernando Valley Youth Chorus.
The choirs John conducts rehearse in the Valley and are always seeking new members.
