Eric Cornwell
Baritone
Eric Cornwell is a new graduate of the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach, where he earned his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a concentration in opera while studying under Dr. Alexander Hahn. While enrolled in the conservatory Cornwell was a passionate member of both the opera program and Bob Cole Chamber Choir, where he served as bass section leader for the 2022-23 school year. As a member of the Bob Cole Conservatory Chamber Choir Cornwell performed in multiple ACDA conferences across the United States, including singing under the direction of Eric Whitacre in his composition, The Sacred Veil, at the 2020 Western Division Conference. During his time in the opera program Cornwell performed a diverse spread of leading roles, appearing as Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro, The Forester in The Cunning Little Vixen, and Gabriel von Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus. In addition to his conservatory studies, Eric Cornwell has performed a wide array of repertoire as both a chorister and soloist throughout the greater Long Beach area and abroad in Germany, Italy, and Slovenia. Cornwell has appeared in performances with the Long Beach Camerata Singers many times over the last five seasons, and joined the Catalyst Chamber Ensemble for their inaugural performance, Considering Matthew Shepard, in 2022. Eric Cornwell most recently performed his professional operatic debut as Dr. Malatesta in Don Pasquale with Opera Italia Los Angeles in May.
