Andrea Church
Soprano
Andrea Church is a pianist-vocalist from Lindon, Utah. She completed her Master’s degree in Music at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music (USC). She currently works as an accompanist and private piano and vocal coach in the Los Angeles area. Andrea also works as USC Opera Coordinator. This season, she performed in two of USC opera’s most recent shows. She performed the titular roles Cherubin in Cherubin by Massenet and Simone in La passione de Simone by Kaja Saariajo. With Opera Italia, she sang the role of Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte. Last season, Andrea performed as Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute at the Hawai’i Performing Arts Festival as an Encrantz Professional Fellow in 2023, as well as the role of The Controller in Flight by Jonathan Dove. Andrea previously performed as Mimi in La Boheme and as Suor Angelica in Suor Angelica, both by Giacomo Puccini, at the Mediterranean Opera Studio and Festival in Caltagirone, Sicily. She loved singing in the 2021-2022 Utah Opera Season and collaborating with the Utah Symphony. Andrea earned a Bachelor’s of Music in Voice with a certificate in Collaborative Piano at Utah Valley University (UVU), simultaneously taking Music Education and conducting courses and working in Special Needs Facilities as a caregiver. At UVU, she performed the roles of Mimi in La Boheme, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss II, Violetta in La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi, and Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti. She also was honored to sing with the UVU Chamber choir and UVU LDS Institute Choir. Andrea has studied piano since age six, but began taking organ, voice, and conducting lessons through grade school and interned for two years with choir conductors in Utah Valley. She was a collaborative pianist and vocal TA for Utah Vocal Arts Academy, as well as a collaborative pianist with Utah Lyric Opera, Cedar City Heritage Theater, and The Utah Shakespeare Festival. She served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in England, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria and continues studying and speaking German, Italian, French, and Russian. Andrea loves food, new music, hiking, hanging out with her partner, languages, and dogs.
